Joe Barrera joined the faculty of Converse in the fall of 2017. He earned his PhD and MS in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his BS in Mathematics from Ball State University. His professional interests include conducting research in asymptotic analysis and its application to partial differential equations, as well as learning about new and alternative pedagogies.

In his free time, Joe enjoys reading, playing video games, watching his favorite sports teams (Go Cubs!), and trying new food. Originally from the plains of northwest Indiana, he’s looking forward to exploring the more varied topography of the Upstate region and its surroundings with his wife and Galgo.
